Promised Land Farm is a thirty-two-acre farm founded by Jim and Nancy
Whelan to provide a location for the training of sheep dogs. Nancy
has many years of experience in the training of dogs and wanted a
facility to expand this experience.
The farm has expanded to become home for a variety of critters however
the priority remains with the sheep and the dog training. Included
in the Promised Land Farm family are a miniature donkey, a lama, a
miniature horse, pygmy goats, many breeds of chicken, a family of
peacocks and several heritage breed turkeys.
The highlight of the year on the farm has been the annual Thanksgiving
turkey sale. Five years ago Jim and Nancy started raising twenty turkeys
for processing and sale at Thanksgiving. This enterprise has grown
through the years and each year seems to draw many others to the farm
for their Thanksgiving turkey. Check out how to order your turkey
by clicking on the icon. Supply is limited so it is important that
you order early.
As the flock grows the farm will have live sheep, goats and occasionally
a few chickens for sale. Pygmy goats are available for purchase as
pets or for 4H projects. As the farm expands there will be fresh lamb
for sale from time to time. This year we have added layer chickens
to provide farm fresh eggs from pastured chickens. Several meat chickens
will spend the next few months on our pastures and will be available
for your dinner table soon.
Dogs and dog services have been a great part of the farm. Nancy and
Jim both have a love for dogs and an interest in their well being.

What would a farm be without a tractor? Jim and Nancy have developed
an interest in antique tractors and have acquired a 1951 John Deere
B which they show whenever possible. And there are hints of a “his
and hers” for this yéar’s parades. Country and
Western lovers will appreciate the letters three feet high in John
Deere green on the barn.
